Hi, I’m Mel
My background is in finance teams within large corporate organisations, where forecasting, regular reporting, and using numbers to understand how a business is really performing are simply part of day-to-day life.
That kind of financial insight isn’t treated as optional in those environments - it’s how decisions get made.
What I’ve noticed
Since starting my own business and working more closely with other business owners, it’s become clear that many smaller businesses haven’t always been shown that way of working. Accounting is often framed as something that happens once a year - submitting accounts and tax returns after the fact - rather than as something that helps you understand how the business is performing as the year unfolds.
As a result, people can end up doing the right things technically, without ever really having visibility or confidence in what’s going on day to day or month to month.
How I work now
The work I do now is about bringing that level of financial insight into smaller businesses in a way that’s clear, approachable, and genuinely useful.
I want people to understand what their numbers are telling them, feel more confident in the decisions they’re making, and have someone alongside them who can help make sense of things as their business grows.
I see my role as a finance partner - someone who brings structure, clarity, and perspective, and helps bridge the gap between statutory requirements and ongoing financial understanding.
